Most of us would not be comfortable with our children becoming the responsibility of the Chinese authorities if we could no longer care for them. That’s why we give a free Legal Guardian Agreement (LGA) with every family plan. An LGA is a simple legal document that allows you to choose who should become your child’s guardian if you are unable to care for them.

Included services

Below is a list of the legal services we offer Family Proactive Protection Plan members. Members can enjoy up to a TOTAL of 12 free legal services per year. Each legal service has a restriction on the number of times it can be used per year. This means that members can choose ANY combination of the following services, as long as they do not exceed the limit of each service. Next to each service (in brackets) is the maximum amount of times you can use that service per year:

Telephone Consultation

What if you had a lawyer you could call anytime to ask…anything?

All members are entitled to free telephone consultations with a lawyer. Simply call or email us to request a callback from one of our lawyers. Your lawyer will aim to return the call the same business day. At certain times your lawyer may have prior professional commitments, at such times he or she will call you back within twenty four hours. Each consultation is subject to a maximum time limit of one hour. (Up to 12 times per year)

Office Consultation

Does your enquiry require a more personal approach?

If you want to meet with your lawyer to discuss your requirements then you can visit our office. Again, simply call or email us to arrange a visit, once we have received your request we will contact you within forty eight hours. Consultations must be booked in advance. (Up to 3 times per year)

Home/Office Visit

Too busy to visit us? Then let us come to you.

We understand that your time is valuable, which is why we offer a convenient onsite consultation. If you are unable to leave the office or are just too busy, simply call us and we will arrange for your lawyer to visit you at the office or at home. A one hour consultation is treated as a Legal Service and all travel expenses will be paid by the member. (2 times per year)

Contract Review

Have you ever signed a Chinese contract you do not understand?

Members can have Chinese language contracts reviewed by a lawyer. Just send us the contract you want reviewed and your lawyer will review it and contact you within five days. Contracts are limited in length to three A4 pages. A full translation service is available and will be charged separately. (Up to 3 times per year)

What would happen to your children if you had an accident?

Consider this fact: China’s roads have the highest death rate in the world with over 110,000 people killed every year. Also consider the quality of the medical services in China. If the worst was to happen, and you and your partner could not look after your children, they become the responsibility of the Chinese authorities. This means that someone you and your children do not know will be making decisions regarding your children’s welfare. This does not need to happen. A Legal Guardianship Agreement (LGA) is a simple agreement between you and another person to say who you want to become your children’s guardian if something bad happens to you. This person can be someone you and your children know and trust. With every family plan we give a free LGA to protect your children so you do not need to worry. It is easy to start protecting your children today.

Will

Have you made a will for your assets in China?

Nobody wants to think about what happens when they die. But if you do not your family could suffer. A will is a legal document which states what you want to happen to your property and assets when you die. When someone dies without a will it is the responsibility of the person’s family to deal with everything. At such a difficult time this can be upsetting, expensive and can take a long time. We can make it easy by helping you to draft a simple will today. (1 time per year)

Issuing Attorney Letters

Need to send a message? Say it with a letter.

All members can arrange to have legal letters drafted and sent by one of our lawyers. All letters will be issued within five business days. (2 times per year)

Tax Planning

Are you paying too much tax?

Living and working in a country with such a complicated tax system can be frustrating and confusing. You can have one of our tax experts review your current situation and tax liability to identify opportunities for tax savings. Our team has combined accounting, financial and legal expertise with practical Chinese knowledge. They also have abundant local resources & relationships to offer an individually-tailored solution to each of our valued clients. (1 time per year)

Property Law Consultation

Are you considering buying a property?

There are many laws and regulations that apply to a foreign individual buying a property in China. This process is made even more complicated because these laws and regulations are constantly updated. A property purchase is likely to be one of the most significant and expensive purchases you make. Your lawyer can help you with every stage in the process, from finding a mortgage to completing the sale. (1 time per year)

Negotiation

Do you want us to do the talking?

If you have lived in China for a while you will know that negotiation is commonplace. If you do not understand the language it makes negotiation impossible. Members can request a lawyer to carry out certain negotiations on their behalf. Whether you need a specialist in a particular area, or you simply require a negotiator with legal knowledge to resolve the dispute, we can help you. This service has a time limit of three hours and all travel expenses will be paid by the member. (1 time per year)
